About Crossfit Islington

The founders are two friends from Islington who met in 2016. Ben had spent many years going to a conventional gym, but was getting bored. He had heard the hype around CrossFit and signed up for a trial. He was instantly hooked by the results and the friends he made.

That’s where he met Adam, one of the most qualified CrossFit coaches in London. Adam had spent the last few years planning to open his own gym. A place that brings together the very best of what he’s learnt to a beautiful and modern space.

Together, they decided to open their own gym to bring the benefits of CrossFit to their local community. As soon as an old bakery off Hornsey Road became available, they knew this was the place.

Our team has been helping Londoners achieve their fitness goals for a number of years. Our coach-led classes take the thinking out of your workout – you simply have to show up and bring the effort. Small classes mean you get expert attention, whatever your level.

Crossfit Islington: Our Coaches

Adam Friedlaender

Adam is a native Londoner and a qualified Physiotherapist. He is one of only a handful of coaches in the UK to obtain a CrossFit level 3. Adam is inspired by the diversity and energy of North London and is passionate about creating a space where people from all walks of life can come together.

Why Adam loves CrossFit:  He loves the way CrossFit improves health and physical fitness, builds confidence and develops community. It’s really transformational. He also loves seeing clients grow as athletes and people.

Favourite music to play in class: Dua Lipa and Celine Dion.

Manny

Manny hails from Italy. Home of the Bolognese and some of the greats of F1. He loves them both.

His biggest asset is that everyone loves and trusts him. He has time for everyone and is interested in members beyond just their fitness.

He came about Crossfit when helping a friend in Italy set up a gym and hasn’t looked back. As a member of a box in London, he loved forming a new home with other people who shared his passion for fitness.

He always pays attention to detail and is passionate about sharing what he’s learnt with others. He is always trying to find the right exercise progressions and motivations for members so they get the most from training.

Why Manny Loves CrossFit: The unpredictability keeps it interesting.

Coach Magda

Hailing from a cherry and apple farm in rural Poland, Magda came to London 8 years ago to try to make it as a dancer. However, she was introduced to CrossFit soon after arriving and has never looked back.

We have never seen anyone work out as hard and long whilst also always wearing a huge smile. Magda is endlessly hard-working, and positive and will drive you to get the results you’re after.

Magda also holds the world record for the CrossFit benchmark workout Karen, 150 Wallball Shots For Time. We are very proud of her and grateful to have her at CrossFit Islington.

Speciality Classes

Gymnastics

Our gymnastics classes focus on bodyweight movements and are for all levels. As well as building strength, muscle and mobility they will challenge your coordination with new skills and drills. As well as handstands and muscle-ups, classes focus on getting you the bodyweight fundamentals of push-ups, pull-ups and a sterling core.

CrossFit Sweat

As its title suggests we get the heart rates and music up with lots of ‘cardio’. Classes are stripped of barbells and high-skill gymnastics so you can get a sweat and pump on and build your engine. Our Friday ‘Sweat’ class is particularly challenging for all of you cardio machines out there.
